Cocktail of the Week: Bee's Knees

Not only does this drink have arguably the best name ever, but it's my new favorite beverage save for the delightful French 75. (Don't worry, I'll be posting the secrets to the perfect French 75 in a few weeks).

Of course, with a name like "Bee's Knees," you probably assumed that honey was one of the essential ingredients to this drink. You'd be correct.

Sunday Crafternoon: Vintage Recipe Wall Art

A few years ago, my uncle gave me copies of old hand-written family recipes. They were fun to read, but I didn't really know where to put them besides put them in my recipe folder on my bookshelf.

On our kitchen wall

Then, when clicking around on Pinterest one night, I got the idea to hang them on my kitchen wall. The problem was that they were copies of copies, not originals, and on all different sizes of paper. I needed to find a way for them to look older and to get them all the same size.

Friday Favorites: Mam'selle Purse

Friday is the best day of the week: so full of anticipation for the weekend! By mid-Saturday I'm already sad that the next day is Sunday and I'm ever closer to the start of another long week of school. To celebrate the best day of the week, I've decided to post one of my favorite things each Friday.

This is my best thrift store find to date. I kind of always hated when people would blog about awesome purses and stuff and say, "Oh yeah, I just found this old thing at a thrift store." 'Where??' I would think. All the thrift stores I went to had sequined t-shirts and 80's sweatsuits: no awesome accessories.

So imagine my surprise when I picked up this gem for..... drumroll..... $20! I noticed that the inside was leather, but figured that the outside was faux-alligator. The only alligator bags I'd ever seen were $10,000+ Hermes bags. When I asked the lady who rang me up if she knew the history of the bag, she told me some interesting stuff!

Cocktail of the Week: Pink Lady

Ugh, it's Monday. You look like you need a drink. Time for the cocktail of the week! I love fancy, old-fashioned cocktails and try out new ones as often as possible.

Who wouldn't want to drink something called a "Pink Lady?" If Rizzo from Grease had a signature cocktail, I guarantee she'd slither up to the bar in her hot leather pants, slide off her Pink Lady jacket, and order a pink lady while winking to the bartender.

I got an awesome cocktail book at the thrift store. It has all these old-fashioned recipes that I love, but am too embarrassed to order them at bars so I just make them at home. Bartenders either don't know how to make the drinks, make them really wrong, or think I'm a weirdo for not ordering a vodka tonic like all the other 22 year old girls. 'Shut up, stupid bartender,' I think. 'Stop judging and get me my Tom Collins."

Sunday Crafternoon: Mercury Glass

Mercury glass or silvered glass is an old-fashioned way of coloring glass that was used from the mid-nineteenth to the early twentieth centuries. It has a really interesting look, but can be expensive and hard to find.

Luckily, I found a DIY mercury glass tutorial on Pinterest, so I tried it out and thought I'd share it with you!
